I know this part of London well. Back in the 1960s I remember being taken to the 'Museum of British Transport' here which has been long gone. Once a wealthy area of large houses, the neighbourhood declined from the middle of the 20th Century but became 'gentrified' again from the 1980s on as property values burgeoned and the middle classes... It used to be a middle class area. Because of the high apartment prices in London and the growing number of inhabitants from overseas, the town is changing to become a higher level place to live with lots of restaurants and shops. That being said, it is not a tourist destination where you are visiting London for only a few... More

I am obviously going to give you a truly biased review of this place, because this is where i grew up back in the old Dickensian times(joke!) What can I say, it was quite a working class area when I grew up here, and it has changed, some say for the worse, I think it's better personally, it's a lot... More

This area is an old part of London full of history. It became run down over the years and used to be rather dangerous/ undesirable. In recent times it is becoming rejuvenated and improved. Now it has an upbeat vibe, is rather trendy and is property is increasing in value. Worth a visit - Clapham Common is a lovely green... More

Clapham used to be a posh part of London (can you believe it?) many a-year ago but then suffered greatly in the last 50 years and went very downhill. In the last 10 years, however, things have started looking up again. Definitel wouldn't say that it has the same boho vibe as some of the East End which is also... More

It is getting more popular among Londonners. Those who live in North did not venture into South before but gradually more are coming. It got everything one needs but it is not as crowded as West End or elsewhere. Shops are not running late except dorm clubs but one can find nice restaurants and cafés, and bars.

Clapham Comon is a great place to visit. Perfect for doggie walking or a picnic. In my case I was there with several thousand people we were doing the Race for Life. My friend and I walked 10K It was a great evening and the venue was spot on!
