The RAF Benevolent Fund is proud and privileged to be the custodian of the new Bomber Command Memorial in central London. The memorial has been built to be modern, yet classical, in Portland stone. At its heart are the bronze sculptures of a Bomber Command aircrew. Within the memorial, the space is open to the sky with an opening designed to allow light to fall directly onto sculptures of the aircrew.

You must go see the memorial, it takes your breath away. Take time to reflect on others even lay a reath or a flower or two.

This is an impressive and imposing memorial that does what it's meant to do: Make you think about sacrifice and what these men put themselves through, or at the very least try and find out about who they were and what Bomber Command went through.

As someone who was brought up with memories of the RAF during WWII by my father who served during 1941-1945, this is a great memorial to the thousands of aircrew who served and died during the conflict.

Yes this is definitely one that is worth a look as it is of such perfect proportions and detail in order to remind everyone of the sacrifices made to ensure the Second War was won for the British Empire
