Address
Neighbourhood: Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighbourhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
How to get there
  • London Bridge • 1 min walk

Great Event but watch the bar charges
Jul 2021
Attended a ticketed music event which was fabulous. However the drinks charges were inflated for the vouchers we had with the entrance fee which I find extremely bad. We had a free glass of champagne voucher and could upgrade to Rose champagne for £2 - however if you ordered a glass of champagne on the app it was only £1 to upgrade. Also we had a £10 off of a bottle of champagne - we were charged more to order at the bar (again) than the app BUT the vouchers can't be used via the app - they are only relevant for handing over at the bar. VERY VERY CHEEKY and bad customer service

Virgin on the ridiculous
Jul 2021 • Couples
Shocking customer services..

After nearly 2 years of trying to book this experience hrough virgin I have given up ... They're is me and my partner and my children and their partners who work in the emergency services, so booking up when all have time has been impossible... We just tried for August 2021 which is a week away and the virgin organisers have given us just 4 dates for the whole of August after we have emailed them 30 times trying to get a date we can all do ... Apparently they only get the month in front a week or 2 earlier and obviously the shard prioritise the tickets they sell through themselves so virgin just get what's left ... if your going to book this experience do it through the shard as Virgin are a complete waste of time ... Have asked for money back ...

Disappointing, incredible, shocking, badly handled visit
Jul 2021
Absolutely appalling visit. Totally appreciate a major thunderstorm prevents access to the top floor for viewing, however being informed on entry would have been appreciated, but of course not that would mean The Shard having to potentially offer a refund. Family outing pre booked to visit did wonder with the forecast if entry allowed however guided in given tickets. We were then ushered through with security personnel being the most politest of the day. Ushered through a stupid photo booth with fast 1,2,3 smile now 1,2,3 wave. No time to even think. Then move on get out the way for next. Ushered along into a lift. Out of lift ushered along into next. Out of lift ushered up the stairs to Level 69 to be greeted with glass to wall of people being held as Level 72 not opened “and we’ll let you know when” and to make it all better go get a free tasting gin! Really! Over full. Ridiculous. Couldn’t sit, couldn’t stand and certainly couldn’t see out to a view as naturally folk taken up position and not prepared to release it as no where to go. Did a circuit round the floor. Constantly being bumped into by folk 50/50 with mask wearing. Incredible! Gave up as clearly with the thunderstorm going on Level 72 unlikely to be opening and yet people were still being ushered up. At what point was H&S going to come to play, in that it was so overcrowded it wasn’t safe let alone a Pandemic still playing out. How many NHS Apps going to be pinging this week? The Shard Management Team should be ashamed how their staff were handling the situation and the £100 spent yesterday for our totally disappointing and badly handled visit is lining pockets that should be feeling very guilty and they handing it over to a charity that has more need! Don’t waste your time you can get a better view of London elsewhere.

Great Views
Jul 2021
The view from the shard was amazing, but i have to say the bars around level 72 & 69 were dirty, no sign of any cleaning going on and very slow service when orders are placed via the app for drinks

Really disappointed with this major London attraction - too many people, not enough seats, no social distancing and over priced but the views were great. Would recommend the Sky Garden which is free and far nicer.

Weekend warm up rooftop day party…awesome!
Jun 2021 • Friends
The weather wasn’t amazing however the event was. DJ was great as was the setup. Our group of 6 had so much fun. Great to see a real mix of people all having fun.

Team there were great. Mia made us feel really welcome and took a group photo for us and gave us advice about seating upstairs.

Luke was so friendly and helpful and added to the fun.

If you haven’t booked…do it. I would 100% do this again.

It's more than wow, almost leaves you breathless

So, Ms and 15yr Nephew, are sightseeing in London for 2 days, now being affraid of heights!!!! But have loved experiences on the London Eye & the Sky Garden, I didn't think this would worry me too much.
Finding the entrance is very easy and well signposted just around the corner from the Hotel entrance. After showing the email of proof of having tickets, we entered the building, past airport style security (all metal items out of pockets, and then walk thru the security arch. Then you (depending on the ticket) have your photo taken against a blue screen, in which to see the photos on the way out. OK, first lift goes to 33rd floor in about 30secs, then transfer to another lift up to 68th floor again about 30sec but wasn't really counting, this brings you to the reception floor, where the famous toilets have a great view. So upto the main floor, it's about 1hr before sunset, so vision was still good for miles around, its a 360 degree look of london 224 meters from the street, limited seating is positioned around. But having a drink (pricey, but worth it.) another level higher than this had open sections looking skyward.
At one point a helicopter flew by, and we was almost at eye level!!!!
Sunset got cloudy, but enough to see rich orange colours thru the clouds.
2 lift rides back to earth, and via the gift shop. Don't let the heart, buy everything. Oh, it's cards only. No cash. Collect your photos from earlier (well its delivered by email)

It's a great piece of architecture. It's a modern day piece of artwork

Would like to see London again from this angle, maybe when London is at nighttime, proper dark.

Really dissatisfied!
Jun 2021 • Couples
Me and my girlfriend were really looking forward to going up the shard as one of our attractions during our trip to london however this was by far the worse . When we arrived there was a massive queue outside with no shade or cover from the 30+ degree heat . When we finally got inside we felt rushed and as if we weren’t meant to be , it was almost like cattle being herded . We literally had 5 minutes at the top and then we were rushed back down the lift . Charging £64 for 5 minutes where picture opportunities are limited as there was too many people at the top is shocking . The view was also very limited and sky garden across the road (which is free) was miles better . We will not visit again!!

Amazing views
Jul 2021
We were given a voucher for our birthdays to visit. Unfortunately, we could not pre-book a time with this voucher but we found it meant that we skipped the long queue of people who had booked a time and went straight up to get our tickets. Once at the top the views were amazing, it was a really hot sunny day so we could see for miles (all the way to the Dartford Crossing) but it was so hot on the very top level and as it was quite crowded we were wearing masks. We stayed about 45 minutes which was long enough to have a good look around all sides but maybe would have stayed longer if it wasn't so hot or crowded
