I stumbled upon this place looking for a particular person, and all amongst the hundreds of tiny units of antique jewellery! My eyes were amazed at all the different things you could buy and it all seemed never ending, like a place where you wanted to be lost, so you could discover something new but old. The staff helped me... More

Went there to look for an old clock was recommended by a friend. There is a shop on the first level that sells clocks and watches (not the one near the entrance). The guy was so abusive we left immediately. Go elsewhere. This place is full of thugs.

Many small antique shops in a large building by Bond Street tube, offering a plethora of interesting and varied objects and services. A great engravers in the basement!!

This antiques market is always on the itinerary for me, but I am typically hard-pressed to be able to get a good bargain here. Occasionally, I can match my wits against that of a dealer and come away with a good deal, but more often than not, I walk out with my hands empty. In other words, why spend double... More

Easily reached from Oxford St just turn left out of Bond St Station and it is first left. it is off the opposite side of road to Selfridges. Lots of high end dealers here specialising in jewellery and with some good pieces of Georg Jensen including brooches, rings and necklaces and many other items. Some of the Jensen here is... More

We had a very enjoyable morning visiting this antiques centre . Full of very desirable items, stall holders were very approachable and friendly. Particularly good for fine jewellery, well worth a visit if you're looking for a period piece and gave a large budget!

I have not visited Grays for many years. Probably never will again, but used to go regularly when in UK. Knew Sarah Baddiel and her husband well. Sarah for Golf and Colin for Military items. Lovely people and a great location. There is also a Cafe on site for refreshments. Well worth a visit. But I have just found out... More

A wide range of independent antique, vintage and modern shops. Hit and miss as to which ones are open at any time, but enough to make a visit worthwhile. Downstairs in the main shop tends to be more expensive - but with some glorious items, particularly in high-end silver. The ground floor has more of a range of outlets, with... More

Gray's is tucked in a quiet small street near major shopping areas, it's a good choice for those who want a change from major brand shopping and/or can't get to Portobello Road markets. The Annex building has mostly Persian and Middle Eastern booths. The main building has English/European booths. The more knowledgeable and experienced you are, the better you can... More

I have to say that I like Gray's but I am reluctant to buy anything. There are lots of people like me who nip in to have a look around and the traders get a feel for who's a serious buyer; so, they are not unfriendly, just experienced. They are there to sell and are good at it if you... More

Staying in Mayfair

Neighbourhood Profile
Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
