Attended a birthday party at this venue, the second such visit for a celebration. The venue is magnificent, the staff smartly dressed, polite and very helpful. The food was very good and professionally served. The reception and dining rooms were very clean and very warm; central heating and a coal fire made the room very hot.

We visited the Great Hospital as part of the Heritage weekend events. As the site is still providing superb accommodation for older people, it is not open very often, so we were delighted to manage to get tickets for this event. The history of the site is amazing and we were helped to understand all about the different parts and... More

I can only describe this hidden gem in the heart of Norwich as 'amazing!!' We had an excellent tour by Charlie, extremely knowledgeable and very passionate about the building, the history and works within The Great Hospital. Would I recommend this? ... YES!! 100%!! Can't wait to revisit and the Christmas Fair is already in my diary!!

The lovely staff of the Great hospital organised a tour for us, the Master Kevin showed us around he was a really helpful man with lots of interesting historical knowledge. The actual buildings were very beautiful and very interesting. We would defiantly recommend a visit to the Great Hospital and the residents were very lovely and welcoming too.

We arranged a business lunch at the Great Hospital, followed by a tour. What a fantastic experience all round. The food was first rate and the tour was fascinating. We heard all about the swan pit (the last remaining one in Britain) and about how eating swan was such a delicacy. The quarterer in the Refectory certainly brought it all... More

The Great Hospital in Bishopgate, Norwich, is a beautiful setting and hosts a number of events throughout the year. Yesterday, I went along to an afternoon tea, held at the Hospital for an important charity, and it was a wonderful afternoon. We were blessed, pardon the pun, with the Hospital's priest, Father Barry, joining us and imparting his in-depth knowledge... More

My Husband and I booked a guided tour of The Great Hospital in Bishopgate Norwich - having walked past the building many times and not really sure what the buildings were used for - What a fabulous tour and Blue Badge Guide - He was so knowledgeable and knew so much about The Hospital and Norwich itself - it was... I did the touristy 'thing' and visited on an open day here many years ago, but yesterday enjoyed a Blooming Great Tea Party organised with Marie Curie Norfolk, so saw first hand just what a superb venue The Great Hospital is for holding events. The buildings are packed with history in beautiful surroundings (kudos to your gardener btw) the staff... More

Today I attended The Great Hospital for a charity afternoon tea. My dietary requirements are quite specific but was catered for with no issue and the food was delicious. The Hospital itself is drenched in history and I would suggest a guided tour of this beautiful and unusual venue. Quite wonderful! boasting the smallest cloisters and a unique little church.... Originally known as " Hospital of St. Giles". Located behind Norwich Cathedral. Founded by Walter de Suffield to care for elderly priests, poor& sick. St. Giles is the patron saint of lepers, cripples & nursing mothers - don't know the connection between the latter & the first 2. It was a 30-bedded institution. 7 poor choristers fed daily, along with 13... More
