It's quite a steep climb and there is only one way up or down ( although the gentleman who takes your admission money does control the numbers ) . However the climb is worth it for the excellent views of Whitby , the harbour and the coastline .

Great place to blow the cob webs out Nice to get some fresh air, as well as to look at the history of Whitby and the piers.

This wasn't open last time we visited Whitby so we thought we'd pop up and see what it was like. At £1.50 per adult it wasn't expensive and well worth the money. There are nice views from the top so we'd recommend it. Not great for those with a fear of heights and the staircase is very windy so we... More

By chance the lighthouse was open on our visit. £1.50 per person to go up. It was a very windy but bright day - good views and photographs - well worth the climb.

We walked along this every day we stayed because it is so breathtaking. So much sea air makes you feel alive!

Half way out on the harbour wall sits one of a pair of lighthouses. There's an entrance fee to climb the steps inside until you get to the viewing platform (£1.50 for adults/£1.00 for children). Pretty windy.

There were a couple sat at the enterance taking the £1.50 fee to enter. My wife was unable to climb the steps so the... More

We visited Whitby in January and had a brisk walk along the pier to the lighthouse. We would love to get a chance to see inside but haven't managed to time being there when it is open. Still it is a great landmark and always an enjoyable walk to it from the harbour.
