This small church in the city centre is mainly a Victorian rebuild but there are still a couple of interesting things to see. I particularly like the 12th Century stone font, and above the west door is a most impressive stained glass window. For music...More

Beautiful little church with very nice stained glass windows. A little quiet oasis on what is probably the busiest street in York, almost opposite Betty's tea room. Nice place to sit and contemplate life.

This is a nice little church which has a beauty and simplicity about it. Not spectacular, but a sense of peace and worship. Also a little unexpected as it is set right on a busy square. A good place to take time out on your...More

It looks like York city centre was built around this charming little church. Well worth a visit and some lovely wall plaques. Highly recommended for a 20 minute visit.

I visited during York Resident's Weekend, when the church was full of music and tea and biscuits aplenty. Lots of interesting features here, some of which you can see in my photos.

This church doesn't have many services, but look out for occasions when the young men and women who make up the choral scholars are singing at one under the hand of a fine musical director. Pretty church and easy to find, across the way from...More

With so many beautiful churchs in such a small area to find one that you think is normal is quite surreal, St Helen's is that church. Very plain church which give's you a feeling of peace and quiet.
