Very professional and helpful staff when our two special needs children needed to use the disabled facilities and a very lovely spot to relax and unwind from the hustle and bustle outside.

York's Library & Archives is a brilliant spot for those wanting a quiet(ish) place to sit, relax and (of course) read. With good opening hours the centre is accessible, and well positioned in the heart of this great city.

Seriously, the cake slice was massive. Lovely little quiet cafe away from Christmas York hustle and bustle. Set in a lovely building. Really nice.

The cafe at this library really needs to improve. Signs indicate that hot food is served at midday but on four occasions now a hot potato is not ready until the afternoon! Overall this cafe is a little grubby and the staff seem a little bit distracted. There are a fair few improvements that need to be made.

This is a big Library and offers a range of services. The Reference Section is particularly good and includes a good range of Ordnance Survey large scale maps. All the Stagg I encountered were very helpful and pleasant.

Nice coffee shop away from crowded tourist traps. Read a book or magazine and chillax in the centre of York.

I just stopped by here because I love the charm of libraries anywhere. It was really great to visit I felt very comfortable there where a lot of secluded seating areas where you could just read by yourself. The library has a shop as well with a nice selection of books, DVD's and CD's. Go there to have a little... More

After deciding that York Art Gallery was too expensive for coffee we decided to visit the cafe in York Library instead, how I wish I had spent the extra money and gone to the art gallery!!
