Dragging the kids around a cathedral is a family institution, but on this occasion they really seemed to enjoy it. York Minster is massive, the sheer scale of everything is mind blowing. Of particular appeal is the underground section, which has plenty of gadgets designed to interact with children. personally, the stained-glass windows were my favourite, they are enormous. £10... Good quality guides and kids enjoyed exploring, Guides were informative and enthusiastic. Unsure why York charges excessively for virtually all tourist attractions and this one costs a lot. Unsure if charging to visit a Cathedral is acceptable.

Such a beautiful building and so impressive. The charge per adult is good value and for a little more money the brave and fit can go up the tower. Not for us, it was too windy!!

£10 per person is good value if you go back regular, as you get reentry for a year (woo hoo), but for a one off visit this is a bit steep for what its worth, but it is a church and of course the church have no money ! Decent place to have a look around, and some interesting things... More

Whilst the interior may not be as ornate as many ancient churches, the sheer scale is awesome to take your breath away; such building skill by the stonemasons. Stained glass windows are huge but being so old use smaller glass pieces and less intense colours than you might be expecting, plus the crypt was for us a disappointment. Even so... More

New exhibits in place. Treasure exhibit starts end of March so will be worth the wait for you ten pound adult ticket- excluding tower tour- undercroft full of great information and still being developed. Again I'd go in April to get a fuller view. Lovingly being restored.

This is an amazing building. It is atmospheric, calm and peaceful. We did not pay an entry fee, but simply ignored all of the high pressured posters and placards saying what offers we could take up and walked in. I'm not sure that there is an actual entry charge?? We did, during our visit, make a donation to the upkeep... More

Beautiful place, £10 each and an extra £5 for a trip up the 265 steps to epic view. Definitely worth going such a extraordinary building
