The beautiful Grade II* Listed Delapre Abbey, just one mile from Northampton town centre, is entering an exciting new phase in its history. Following the success of a Heritage Lottery Fund application in 2013, a £7 million project is coming to the end of a 3 year restoration period to repair and restore this previously listed "Building At Risk". The Delapre Abbey Preservation Trust is working with Northampton Borough Council to involve the community and volunteers in the restoration project and will then manage and operate the Abbey for the benefit of the public. The Abbey will be opening its doors to visitors for the first time in its 900 year history, with The Trust managing the building as a fantastic historic venue for local, national and even international visitors.

Spent a very pleasant Saturday afternoon , excellent sandwich freshly prepared, expensive but you should pay for quality ,sitting on the terrace overlooking the parkland, then went around the house. Ticket purchasing was a little frustrating , one woman working , two males just standing...More

As above. The food is bought in from what I can see apart from a bit of salad and the price for a salad with a bland sausage roll and a drink was around twenty quid. Very poor value for money.

I was very excited to visit the abbey but was well disappointed as most rooms are completely empty... What a shame. I would recommend to walk around and see from the outside.

So pleased this house has been done up and opened to the public. They have done an excellent job and the history is fascinating. The guides are friendly and knowledgeable.

We visited the Abbey as a group of 3 adults 2 weeks following the official opening. Whilst 4 rooms have been restored, others have a long way to go. It would have been nice to have seen before and after photos to appreciate how far...More

It's difficult where a site has been through as much as this one to justify describing it as a historic building. Nonetheless, a great deal of work has been carried out to make good and recreate a sense of the place through it's various developments....More

We decided to visit the newly opened Delapre Abbey because we love historic buildings. Of course, the nearness to home was a big bonus. We booked our tickets easily enough online - one price for all over 18s, kids go free. Unfortunately, we were unable...More

The Abbey has been beautifully resurrected to a very fine level. There is a great deal to see and do, and you are allowed to touch things and open doors and play with some of the items. I am particularly impressed with the Bouverie rooms...More
