This gem of a church is one of the few 'in the round' churches as celebrated by the Knights Templar. You'll feel the da Vinci Code

Wonderful old church, located about half way between the train station and the town centre. Very well kept with a wealth of detail to see. The volunteers were very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. A rare historic gem, well worth a look if you are visiting Northampton.

Unfortunately no longer used, this church is beautiful. It's around 900 years old, with banded stone in parts. There are some wonderful carvings inside and out and Norman arcades. It is grade I listed and well worth a look.

Built in 1070,I have always loved this Church and I was saddened that it was placed out of commission in the 90s. I recently tracked down the keyholder and managed to have plenty of time inside, alone in peace and it really was a wonderful...More

This is not only a lovely building from the outside, with all its stone carvings, but the Norman architecture is splendid inside. The round arches and pillars are carved with zig-zags and other designs typical of this architectural period. Also inside is a memorial to...More

900 years old, of the oldest in Northamptonshire. The carvings are beautiful, flowers, birds and beasts, I love the man being swallowed by the monster! Plantagenet Kings worshipped here.

St Peter's is now being looked after by The Churches Conservation Trust and I have to say the voluneers that we met were so full of passion and fascinating information that we were entertained, engaged and informed.

The church is now in the capable hands of the Churches Conservation Fund, a registered charity which has so far saved many abandoned churches. You need not be an expert in Norman architechture (I am certainly not!) to appreciate the sheer beauty of the building....More

Here is a superb use of local sandstone and limestone to create contrasting shapes and patterns in the walls. I love the clock on the tower of this church - painted blue and gold.
