We absolutely love hiking and mountains and countryside and this was just perfect. Absolutely beautiful views, some crags to climb if you feel up for it and flatter land for those less confident. Always make sure you have a waterproof and good hiking boots as...More

Hadrian's wall offered so many well preserved areas, such views from here. We really appreciated all the work to make the wall accessible and preserved. It was amazing to walk where people walked 19 centuries ago!

Parking is just up from the Roman Army Museum. It is £4 for a car, which seems a bit steep, although there are also toilets on site. You do get to use the ticket for the rest of the day in some other local car-parks...More

The site is excellent for walking along the Wall for a bit and getting a sense of the quality of construction and design of the Wall. It is most impressive to view the Wall running to the horizon in both directions. And it is still...More

Lovely extended views of Hadrian's wall. Take some decent walking shoes, but this place is fabulous. Get the dual ticket for vindolande and the Roman museum.

Although the area was a sign of military prowess. These days it is very peaceful and scenic. The walks are lovely. My kids really enjoyed everything. The views are unrivalled in the locale.

Which direction are you travelling from? one of the classic shots is at Steel Rigg, just north of B6318 at Once Brewed.
