Wonderful small museum with some very nice touches. Usual friendly welcome, really interesting. If you have children with you make sure they find the dressing up clothes. Buy a joint ticket which gives you 20% discount on a visit to Vindolanda.
We stopped here after a walk along Hadrian’s Wall with 2 children aged 8 & 10. The museum, although quite small, has lots of interesting exhibits and a good 3D film showing what life would be like for a Roman soldier in Britain. The staff...More
An interesting museum, seeing the life of a Roman soldier from recruitment to the end of his army career. Holographic teacher was good and Eagle eye view film. Weapons and helmets brought it all to life.
We were at Vindolanda and so bought the multi ticket to visit here as well.
Once through the entrance there a sloped entrance where there is a small display followed by other displays about soldiers and how they lived and trained.
