As a birthday gift my daughters took me to the ‘Spellbound’ exhibition at the Ashmolean. Wonderful to see the all the artefacts that made up the exhibition on magic and witchcraft. Well worth the visit but be patient if busy as people naturally linger over...More

I've been to a lot of museums and this is up there with the best of them. Set out in historic periods such Greek, Roman etc I especially enjoyed viewing the coin hoards found locally. A must visit if your in Oxford.

I used my sunday morning at the museum. A great experience walking around in the 5 floors of history from all around the world. Great and calm atmosphere, and the collections are stunning.

The Ashmolean is a stunning museum packed with beautiful things. It's very like the V & A but on a smaller scale. Having said that, it's very easy to spend hours here because everywhere you look is something of interest. In addition to the permanent...More

This needs a couple of visits to really enable the visitor to make the most of the vast collection. It really is quite unique and very comprehensive.

Not absolutely sure of opening times - but the usual sort of times I think? Open all year - but one floor was closed when we were there. I'm sure that there is a website.
