Visited in February as part of a coach tour as my mum really wanted to see this museum. The museum was really interesting with a range of artefacts! The collection of coins were very interesting and we had an enjoyable examining the details on the individual coins. The information in the museum was presented clearly and in an interesting way.

Visited the Ashmolean a couple of weeks ago with my daughter who is studying Classics. We were mostly interested in the Greek and Roman exhibits, naturally. The museum itself is very nice; well set out, beautifully designed inside, and a joy to walk around. Great exhibits too. All the staff we spoke to were extremely friendly and helpful. Well done... Been to Oxford a number of times but not visited the museum. Amazing artefacts and so interesting. Although obviously busy with tourists , didn't feel cramped and there was no problem seeing anything . Excellent place to visit and it's free ! ( donations suggested)

We spent a couple of hours here but could have spent weeks. It is a very well organised museum with an amazing range of exhibitions. The musum highlights ten attractions in an hour that gives you an idea of its range or you can wander leisurely around the different areas. The information provided is very helpful and interesting. Beware it's... More

Free admission. A place of immense interest suited to all age groups. The guides are very helpful and knowledgeable. You could spend all day here and still not take everything in

The wonderful building is a hint of the wonders inside, the museum holds many interesting artefacts from all around the world. When I went I got to handle some old artefacts that really encapsulated the whole hands on environment. I would recommend this to families looking for a fun and educational day out.

Really wonderful collections in this beautiful museum, I suppose not surprising given its links with the university. Loved the Degas to Picasso exhibition particularly the only etching Van Gogh ever did. Stunning.

Literally a whistle stop visit to a couple of galleries at the end of a long day with a 5yr old. I shall return as showed promise if I had more time but I preferred the informality of the Pitt Rivers museum which admittedly is less art. But each to their own and this was still filled with amazing exhibits... More

Husband and I wandered through with our teen foster daughter and have to say what an excellent museum this is. The range of artifacts drew us all in and even the most uninterested teen was fascinated by the history on display. The bonus, this museum is free entry. Wonderful.

Though we weren't but if you only have a short time in Oxford and looking for a bit of history drop into here and you can see some fascinating exhibitions in bite size chunks and pick and choose what interests you. It's free, though they do ask for a donation, easily accessible for all too. If nothing else enjoy a... More
