One of the last traditional folk Irish pubs. Great atmosphere, fun people, nice ales, warm welcome. Thanks for Steven and Connor for the great evening!

Wow, I have just started this review after having read the (obscenely ignorant) comments below of another (disgustingly privileged) attender of the Sunday evening folk session and, like several other reviewers have pointed out, people could not be missing the point more. The bar staff are all friendly, and the pub has the feel of a true Oxford tavern. The... More

This used to be my favourite pub in Oxford. The staff were great, the ale was well looked after and there was always and interesting selection of it. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed and it was a great place to have a chat with friends and strangers alike. Things have, unfortunately, taken a turn for the worse. Because of... More

Went for a pint after 11 o'clock. When ordering a second round I was simply ignored by the staff. Following my complaint I was told that I can wait. Finally I was told that I would be rude and they would no longer serve me. My worst experience in a pub in England. Also: avoid the toilets, they are in... More

In my four visits to this absolute SHRINE of everything positive on this planet, I have never left with anything other than a sheer elation, and a generally more optimistic outlook on people and life in general. It's just that good. The Half Moon sits proudly at the top of the vast expanse of pubs in Oxford due to its... More

About two weeks ago we (5 friends) stayed in the half moon for a few pints until it closed. The bartenders started to kick everyone out 20 min before the pub actually closed (so far normal), coming every half minute to remind us to finish up the beers in clear and unfriendly manner (Not so normal). I'm not against being... More

Half Moon is a small pub near the circle just before reaching Magdalen Bridge when travelling to the city center. There are a number of pubs and clubs nearby but what sets Half Moon apart more than anything is that it is open late. When most of the other pubs close for the evening, Half Moon is still open. As... Visited last weekend with friends who wanted a traditional pub type experience . It is very much a traditional pub with great banter between the regulars and new visitors . Cassia who was running it kept everyone happy and created the great atmosphere .

Ok so I am what you might call a normal person. My wife and I on a rare night away from our 1 year old daughter decided to try and find some live music on a Sunday in Oxford. The Half Moon has a traditional Irish/Celtic night there so we thought we would try it. Fxxxx me, we walked in... More
