St. Mary's Minster is the oldest of the three medieval churches of Reading town centre. There is a little Anglo-Saxon stonework, there is Norman stonework from Reading Abbey, other medieval and later features, A guide book is available.

Haven't been there for a Sunday service, but in 2016 they were opening it during the evening for prayers, for anyone who wanted to go in (and for the homeless who may need a cup of coffee, tee or a kind word). As another reviewer has mentioned, -> This is what a church should do. It doesnt hurt also considering... More

Things have changed for the better there seems a more Christian approach to those in need and with a change in welcoming all especially at less normal times of the day especially for th expunge members at night time. I was less aware on the minster before as it always seemed closed & un welcoming. Now I've hear people talking... More

Attended a classical evening which was amazing. The minister itself was stunning with beautiful and simple architecture. Very peaceful and welcoming location with plenty of space and easy access. You do need to park in the city centre to obtain access to the facility, beautiful place to see if you need a tranquil 20 mins away from the hustle and... More

ive been here for couple of carols last year and some other charity exhibitions as well- it dates back to 16-17th century i guess, the stained glass works, the beautiful paintings , esp the ones on the door, in the extreme left near the pulpit is mesmerizing, the church is surrounded by cemetery - worth paying a visit if you... What a lovely Christmas Carol concert held by the local radio station. You must come early to get inline as limited seating. Can't wait to go back again this year and watch some local talent. Thank you for a free evening

Very pretty church, nice to wander around and through. Probably the nicest part of Reading town centre, sans the parks.

Many relics of old often have unexplainable stories but this wee Church immerses you in a rich and detailed history. Me and my wife parked at a great nearby car park on Church St, RG1 2SQ, in an attempt to find something to do and we did just that! A must visit for people interested in Reading's history.

Really an interesting place. We had the benefit of one of the guides giving us some time and going through all the various aspects of the church. Definitely worth a visit.

This is a beautiful church located in the center of Reading. It is an ideal place to visit, and view the historic architecture. It has a small gift shop inside, and ample seating should you wish to sit quietly / pray / or just enjoy the peace and quiet of a break from the Hustle & Bustle of a busy... More
