Academy Music Group was delighted to acquire a prime City Centre location and a landmark building. It opened on Friday 11th April 2008, with a sell-out gig from local heroes Reverend and The Makers and an after-party courtesy of Jarvis Cocker. The £3.5m development includes a large auditorium with a capacity of 2,350 and a secondary smaller room, emulating the success of its multi-room format at other AMG venues across the country, to hold 500.

Bit of a mixed review for me we found the festival we went to very well organised and good. But this was done by HRH guys so I expect nothing else as for the staff employed by the o2 academy some were nice others just outright rude. And the beer the less said the better u could spend £30 and... More

Took 2 13yr olds to first gig to see Circa Waves last night - contrary to the bad reviews for us this was a great venue. Friendly staff, nice security and small enough not to worry about taking girls to their first gig. Pre-booked the ncp car park below, and strolled over road to Pizza Hut before. Well worth the... Ok, where to start? Car parking, yes I know it's not under their control and you don't have to park in in the NCP Arundel gate car park, but it is convenient, but £13 for a4hour stay!!! Beer. Yes you're a captive audience but 2 pints of lager and a pint of pepsi, £13!. Toilets abysmal, even first thing in the... More

Firstly, if you wish to park near the venue your options are limited to VERY expensive mulitistories, which as over £15 for an evening is, I think, extortionate. Next, the venue itself is pretty grim. This was my first visit and considering it part of a big chain, I really thought it would be tidy and up to date. It... More

Tried to have a seat for 10 mins while waiting for the first band to come on however we were asked to move as we weren't o2 customers which to be honest is laughable as it was just a little corner with a rope around. Anyway we moved and I hope the young "o2 angel " with orange hair is... More

Very surprised when I read the reviews of the Sheffield O2 Academy on here. These people obviously haven't been going to concerts for the past 30 years. I found the sound to be great and the view from anywhere on the floor fantastic. No massive queues for the beer, which was the typical poor standard which I find you get... More

Went recently for a two day event. The first thing that strikes you is the most awful smell you are ever likely to have the displeasure of experiencing - stale sweat, stale beer and you can imagine the rest. The toilets are comparable to 1970s railway station ones - take your wellies!! Even harder to stomach was the vastly over... More

Had a very good experience seeing James on their UK tour. Sound was pretty good and there was plenty of room to move about. Bar queues were kept pretty short and staff were very professional and helpful compared to some venues I have visited. Easy to get to from the centre of Sheffield also. Very good venue.

Love love love the act. But the venue is so so poor. Sound quality is terrible. Took ages to get out as well as stairwells were closed down which lead to people getting angry at the staff. Would defo see the act again but wouldn't watch them at O2 in Sheffield.
