Well worth the stop off and excellent walk following the river and a couple of museums. Bridge is a fascinating bit of engineering and has that wow factor, especially on a nice day. Nice little village/shops/eating places on the other side of it!

Visited with family on Mother's Day and the place was very busy. The bridge is well worth the visit even if just from a historical point of view. Fantastic views of the River Severn and of Ironbridge itself. Did not visit the Tollhouse museum as it was closed with a sign advising "back in half an hour " (?) The... More

You are best parking on the west side of the bridge and walking over it’s hump to the village. On the village side south is the best location to photograph this first of its kind a cast metal bridge.

You can't visit Ironbridge without seeing 'the' bridge. It's place in British industrial history is too special. To see it in context, visit the Museum of the Gorge first, that is just 5 or 10 minutes walk down river. To understand more about the bridge visit the Tollhouse on the far side. The displays upstairs explain more about its construction.... More

First time visit but I will say it was not the bridge that was fascinating but the history associated with the structure and all the museums in the nearby vicinity.

We had a fab day here, lovely little walk around and was great to see all the old shops and pubs still knocking about.

We have fallen in love with this place, having parked our car at Coalport we followed the river to Ironbridge - very impressive to say the least. The toll house was free to enter and although small it was interesting. It's amazing to think it's the worlds first iron bridge. The town itself is beautiful with nice shops and cafes... More

Fairly brief visit to the Ironbridge with family and friends. Impressive architecture but the carriageway of the bridge has seen better days. Interpretation of the Tollhouse was fairly good, but another mute member of staff similar to those we found in some other Ironbridge museums.

The Tollhouse has an exhibition giving the basic details about the Ironbridge (which was NOT built by Brunel or Telford as myth has it). I felt this was enough info and I didn't need the main museum so didn't visit. The bridge itself is what you expect - although I thought the surface would also be metal, but I suppose... More
