You can almost feel yourself taken by the hand and led around a magnificent ballroom until your partner brings you to the height of your senses by way of a dizzying dance. Except you don't, as there is nobody in costume and no music. Until...More

You are visiting 4 beautiful Georgian rooms. The chandeliers are large and impressive, but you will be hard pressed to spend longer than 20 minutes here, unless you have a tea in the tea room (which is one of the 4 rooms). There is no...More

Two cups of tea cost £5 sitting at a wobbly table on uncomfortable seats. Service was slow although less than half the table were taken. Not recommended when far better alternatives abound nearby.

These spectacular rooms would have been well known to Jane and her family as the weekly assembly, ball and congregating rooms.

Quite small, but really interesting to look around. If you're at all interested in social history, or architecture, or indeed Jane Austen, definitely worth a visit. There is information about the building and some history of refurbishment etc. The Fashion Museum is also housed here....More

Take yourself bAck in time and imagine attending a ball in the 1800's! Dancing in the middle of the floor and people crowding around the edges.... Ha.... A Jane Austin tragic.
