I'm so happy the national trust have taken this house back as it is in need of updating, everything needs attention, that said we love visiting this place and walking around the grounds. It always bugged me you can't visit the farm on national trust and you couldn't pay to go see it separate from the house either. It's a... More

Living nearby to Shugborough, we feel particularly fortunate: the landscaped gardens and forests in the grounds are just perfect for family walks. For visitors from furthe afield, there's paid-for entrance to a model farm, large play area and stately home so something for family members of every age.

We have been regular visitors to Shugborough for many years and have enjoyed the many diverse activities and exhibits that are available. The children particularly like the farm and he train ride up to the house. However, we are fearful of the changes that the National Trust will bring in. The annual bonfire and firework display has been cancelled and... More

Beautiful house containing many ornate mirrors and beautiful chandelier. You can also see the apartments where Patrick Lichfield lived and there's an exhibition about his photographic work. Lovely grounds gardens and cafe. Only part of this site was run by the national trust when we visited but it's due to be fully taken over by them shortly.

We have had a lovely day at Shugborough. Although it was a bit sad as it was closing the following day. Some of the people who work there were losing their jobs. N.T. are taking over the running of it and I understand that there will be a few changes. I hope it isn't changed to much, we found it... More

It is may years since we last visited and we only went this time whilst we visited our granddaughter in Stafford. It was nice to see Lichfields appartments, as these were not open on our last visit. But the place is in need of some TLC and the change of stewardship back to the National Trust can not come quickly... More

A very worthwhile visit here, slightly different from other stately homes, worth looking round the other parts of the estate too. Should be something here that will interest most people
