Day out on the railway

The train ride was slow and short. An experience for the children with a steam engine. Cafe was good and friendly.

Had a wonderful time on the Santa train. The staff were great at creating a really lovely atmosphere full of singing and laughter. Parents and young children alike couldn't help but get swept up in there enthusiasm. Although the train ride itself isn't as long as Churnet Valley it more than makes up for it with the extras, ie mince... More

Brought a school trip , nice start etc, Santa lovely, nice staff but main problem was the return journey seemed to take forever. It's no joke trying to keep over 40 children entertained while train is at a stand still for over half an hour! I got the impression that Santa was taking his time as he moved up the... More

Really enjoyed this family outing. Well worth the money. Children's presents very good. Staff all very friendly and helpful. I am gluten free and they even supplied me with a gf mince pie. Thought the station was very welcoming and Christmas decorations lovely. Will definitely go next year.

Went over to Foxfield for their Autumn gala weekend. You have to accept that this was never a passenger railway although it does run such trains now. However you will not see big main line engines, Foxfield unashamedly runs former industrial engines, some diminutive, some ancient. All are restored with loving care. This weekend the lower section of railway down... More
