Excellent building...great staff...beautiful grounds...easy parking Would recommend getting national trust membership at point of visit...for two or more of you with multiple visits this will be cheaper overall.

Stopped here on the way to Southwold, only a short detour and well worth it. A nice house with a Beatrix Potter connection. Interesting architecture including a hidden door! Nice collection of vases and also interesting to see how it was lived in more recently.

View the historical Melford Hall to get a sense of village life. This and Kentwell Hall are the two major manor homes of the wool merchants that dominated village life.

We have been a few times to Melford Hall. The gardens are beautiful in spring and summer! They had a little treasure hunt for the kids to do in the house. They can hunt for certain items, and at the end they get a Peter rabbit sticker. Also the kids can actually play in the small playroom. I grew up... More

We had to stop in Long Melford and ask where to find Melford Hall – if we had driven on a further quarter mile we couldn’t have failed to see it as it dominates the road out of the village and can’t be missed. The house itself is interesting, and it’s intriguing to see how the restored/rebuilt wing (after the... More

Came here on a Sunday afternoon for a visit. The house was lovely, you don't need a large amount of time to properly visit, as it's only small. There are many volunteers around who are only too happy to furnish everyone with information about the history of the house and its occupants. Seeing the Beatrix potter sketches and drawings was... Melford Hall is an established National Trust property with gardens, tea room and a small shop. We attended with our 3 year old daughter. The friendliness started with the car park ladies who chattered to our daughter while explaining to us that the house was not yet open(although the grounds and tea room were). We played hide-and-seek in the garden... More

A lovely afternoon spent at Melford Hall, with the added surprise of being able to see some of Beatrix Potter's sketches that have only just been discovered in some books there .... they had been put on display in the Banquetting Hall, itself an impressive building.

Melford Hall is pretty much just down the road from me and visited once or twice a year. It's not large property but gardens and grounds are lovely and the house itself quite impressive in the parts that weren't damaged by fire in 1942. The rebuilt areas are a bit plain for my taste but it was in the 1940s.... More
