The museum holds some spectacular workmanship, ease of parking and a couple of nice walks too, the house was a little disappointing to us as only a few rooms open, upper level is rented out, not somewhere that you would spend all day, but well worth the visit.

Sutton Hoo is famed for the Boat Burial of a Saxon King. But this place holds many more fascinating facts. Quite gory, the gallows on the hill. Excavation of the famed boat mound is but one of the finds. A must see important part of historical Britain. Excellent food and drinks served inside or out on the balcony.Just a shame... More

Been wanting to come to this place for years... Not disappointed. Owing to my disablement we will HAVE to come back another time to finish off the visit ie: Tranmer House. (Wheelchairs and electric scooter available for the grounds). If you are visiting, then go for the guided tour of the archeological digs. you get to be closer and have... More

We decided to travel to Sutton Hook and got there with 2 and a half hours left to see everything. This was more than enough time. This is definitely not a whole day activity. Even if you went to walk around the whole grounds, it would only take four hours. The ship is fantastic and the history is very interesting.... More

Our visit to Sutton Hoo was on a cold and windy May day, but from entering the Reception Area the National Trust staff were friendly and gave good advice on how to enhance our visit. We took the Guided Tour, led by a member of the Sutton Hoo Historical Society, which made the place come alive.

All the treasures from the find are housed in the British Museum. Nothing discovered is on display here. There is an exhibition hall with a replica helmet and various other displays. Even the introductory video which lasts about 8 minutes wasn't that exciting. There are walks around the estate including passing around the area where the hoard was found. The... More

Really found all the information interesting, lots of people know a bit about Sutton Hoo but there was so much more detail. Coupled with great walks.

Visited today for the launch of the walking festival and was really surprised at how interesting Sutton Hoo is. Always given it a miss before, but Tony the guide who walked us around the mounds was amazingly knowledgeable and enthusiastic and brought the whole discovery to life. Skylarks were singing their hearts out as we toured the cemetery. The visit... More
