Grey's Monument is a Grade I listed monument to Charles Grey, 2nd Earl Grey built in 1838 in the centre of Newcastle upon Tyne, England. It was erected to acclaim Earl Grey for the passing of the Great Reform Act of 1832 and stands at the head of Grey Street. In addition to being a great place to meet, Newcastle City Guides open this iconic monument on a number of days throughout the year. Join us on a climb of 164 steps and take in great views of Newcastle's city centre and beyond.

Like a beacon on which you can focus To find the right metro entry. A beautiful high statue from Mr Earl Grey , premier in the UK and Well known of the earl Grey tea . Nice to look at Wikipedia for more .........

Its a landmark, handy to look out for if youre not sure what street you are in. Seemed to be a hangout for ne'er do wells when we were there.

This historic monument is easily accessible and very central it is a good talking point and a great spot to meet if you are on a day out with friends go off do your own thing then meet up again

its a monument nothing outstanding its very tall so easy to see all the locals know where it is so its a good meeting place, you sometimes see a few crazy people around it but usually very friendly, right in the middle of shopping heaven...More

climbing to the top of the monument and got such a good view of the city. really good to do this and it's so cheap too! difficult to get tickets as spaces fill up really fast it definitely recommend to do this if you can!

This monument is in the centre of town which makes it a great meeting place for people. I have also seen people performing free concerts at the base. Toss in the history and you have an overall winner.

had to bend down through a tiny door and up a small winding staircase, view was fab, made up i got the opportunity to do it would reckoned to anyone

Thanks for the review We cannot do anything about the door or the 164 steps but so glad you have experienced the great views over Newcastle and Gateshead. Other great views can be had from the top of Newcastle Keep.
