I have always had it on my list to visit the castle. So on a visit to Newcastle my husband and I decided to pop in. We loved it. Fascinating history on Newcastle. I have been informed from my husband that there is an amazing view from the top, but I gave it a miss as not good with heights!... More

This was an excellent venue to visit during our weekend break in Newcastle. The castle is teaming with facts about the development of the city and a great place to learn about local and national history.

The Newcastle Castle is accessed with the same ticket at the Black Gate. Together, the two provide a fascinating look at the history of the Newcastle area during the post-roman times to just before the 20th century. Worth spending an hour or so. A note for visitors, while the Black Gate is fully accessible, the Castle is accessible only by... More

Altough it sounds silly, a tourist like me never knew that a castle remained within this city. You wouldn't expect to come out a shop in a bustling metropolitan city to find a castle right at your toes. Wonderful attraction and a great time waster.

Let's go to the castle I said. I hadn't been and took my granddaughters last Easter Holidays. There are lots of activities suitable to a wide range of ages and dressing up. The girls loved the Black Gate

We went to the castle yesterday and the view at the top was amazing. Tried to do the stairs in one go but didn't manage it so best to look into rooms as you go up.

We went in Newcastle and after we get there we decided to visit the castle because we like history. The place is for those who love to feel back in time.

A great piece of inner city history that provides fabulous views of the river Tyne and its bridges. Lots of uneven stairs makes for quite a strenuous attraction.

A group of us visited the castle as part of a 're-enactment experience and it was amazing. The characters inhabiting the castle were great and never slipped from their roles. It was, also very informative as 'Eddie' guided you around to meet each character, and they told you their individual story.

Thank Elizabeth M
