I found service here amazing. Place was packed to the rafters but when you approached the bar you got served.. management obviously knew about the ever and staffed accordingly .. lots of people having food so they even managed that side of things well also.. nothing worse than under staffed bars when there's such an event.. well done , we... Lovely old building converted into what I can only describe as essentially little more than an upmarket Wetherspoon's. Food ordered was tasty and arrived quickly, but was very expensive for what it was and staff seemed very disinterested. Probably wouldn't go back-sorry!

We came here for food as Wetherspoon's usually have a gluten free menu. They didn't have a gf menu and confirmed they had nothing gluten free except maybe the soup but no bread. As my husband is coeliac It has to be 100% gf so he ended up with crisps we couldn't try elsewhere as the rain was torrential. I did... More

Ordered food at the bar with a decent selection of ales and lagers. (Hop house 13 on tap, always a good sign) service decent although extremely quiet. Ordered a stake pie and a burger. Food came promptly but that's where the decent review ends. Cutlery was dirty, pie tastes overwhelmingly of salt and the gravy was more like soy sauce... More

What a disappointing visit. The Union Rooms under JD Wetherspoons was never ground breaking but it was cheap, cheerful and have plenty of choice so we headed over for lunch yesterday keen to see what the new owner had done. Nothing good as it turned out. A sign was up to say upstairs would be open after 12 but this... More

My partner and I called for drinks and I could not believe that this place get so busy and is so popular. There are nicer weatherspoon pubs in Newcastle. This is more like a derelict building. The noise is like a school dinner hall, but still popular. Drinks cheap.

I used to be a regular patron of this establishment in my younger days. I returned this morning to breakfast with my young daughter. I looked at my Wetherspoons app on my phone but it didn't recognize the pub. I was also surprised that no cask mark seemed to be present - unusual for a spoons. The menu was a... More

Great pub near central station, we came here for cheap drinks before a short walk to nearby Metro Radio Arena for a concert. Was a Monday night so was pretty quiet so was easy to get a seat on the first floor
