Such an amazing church - cathedral-like rather than parish church. Graves of The Bard and his family are the attraction but others perhaps even more interesting. The long inscription for a man who lived until 98 is extraordinary for his era. The mix of church...More

The church in itself is peaceful and worth a visit. It is also possible to go through to Shakespeare's tomb, which was interesting. Not suprisingly, there were tours and school parties but the church staff were pleasant and helpful and it was possible to find...More

It is a beautiful worshiping church which does not seek to exploit the Shakespeare connection but recognizes as the historical link. Whilst we were there prayers were said and the bible was being read from. The church itself is fascinating with carvings and other features...More

Very interesting to see and all the history involved. There is a fee of £3 to see but well worth it. The gentleman on the entrance was charming and very knowledgeable. Do pay a visit when you are in the area.

Rightly the recommendation is not too expensive, as while a great church, the tombstone of Shakespeare and those of his family are visible but a little underwhelming. Big fancy tribute it is not. It’s not too far from the town centre and a nice walk,...More

I’m not an expert on Churches, but I found the building itself beautiful, with the soft yellow Cotswold stone, and the member of staff at the gate was very helpful.

A small payment is required to get close. Not a requirement to gain entry to the Church itself. If you are interested in Shakespeare, it is a must see on a visit to S on A.

Only worth a visit if you're really into the bard. The church is free to visit, but you're expected to donate to approach the grave itself.

We walked a distance to visit the bard's grave in the church and it was closed! On NYD? What's going on? Not very clever.

Shakespeare's Grave is rather simple and quite underwhelming. Most people would probably expect something more grand, but, there you have it, it is not! Nevertheless it is an important site to visit if you really have a burning desire to do so. The church itself...More
