There's work being done in the square so it's closed off but the top of the memorial stands defiantly above the barricades. Clearly it's a piece of art. Must come again to have a... read more

There's work being done in the square so it's closed off but the top of the memorial stands defiantly above the barricades. Clearly it's a piece of art. Must come again to have a better look.

I went to see the Chamberlain Memorial Fountain but the whole square was barricaded and closed to public as there was some demolition work in progress adjoining the square. Sitting pride of place at the centre of Chamberlain Square is the memorial fountain. It was unveiled in 1880 to honour the politician Joseph Chamberlain who was mayor of Birmingham from 1873-6.
