I'm an avid cinema go-er so this was a real treat. My friends and I went to see Fifty Shades for a girly weekend, and treated ourselves to the comfy chairs and a glass of wine during the film. We weren't disappointed; the experience is even better in comfort and with booze!

We treated ourselves to sofa seats for the first time. If you are small like me (5 ft) better bring a cushion or bundle up your coat behind you like I did - the seats are a wee bit too long, so that if you have your knees at the edge your back is unsupported. Otherwise very comfy for the... More

It's difficult to see off-beat films in Birmingham. Plenty of cinemas show the major releases; for the often-excellent smaller films you have to search high and low. The one exception is The Electric Cinema in Station Street, behind Grand Central. It is often the first to show new releases in Birmingham (I've just seen "Toni Erdmann", the excellent German contender... More

Small, intimate and comfortable cinema. Great range of snacks, nibbles and drinks (their own label ale is also recommended). Go for the sofa seats and they will even bring the drinks to you.

Unfortunately, I didn't book early enough to get my boyfriend and I a sofa, so we sat in the standard seats, which turned out to be fine as they had great view due to the slanted seats but they were not that comfortable. I really liked the overall feel of the cinema, as ordering at the small bar and being... More

This is such a great cinema, with excellent sound and friendly staff. We say Rogue One at the 10:30am showing, which is another thing I really like about this cinema - morning film showings. Finally, if you book a sofa you can order waiter drinks service via text! Great if you're having a bit of a celebration.

The plush seating, waiter service, sofas and quirky local food and beer make this memorable. Yes there is a damp smell, but as the UK s oldest cinema, that's acceptable. The toilets are old too, so go before you come here is my advice. The staff care a lot and try to make you enjoy this, and you feel part... More

Do remember that this is the oldest working picture house in the UK. It's not massive, but it's clean, comfortable and has good quality picture. And they serve very good snacks too! We caught an anime here, and because we have been travelling for a bit our rail cards entitled us for a 2FOR1 offer so the movie came up... More

Came here to see Elf. Queues were very large to get in, drinks expensive and seats crammed together. Took ages to pick up pre booked seats I don't think the staff are trained properly. Not impressed by the service sorry.

Many many years ago, my wife & I said we'd only ever come here if they showed a Cary Grant film, or at least something appropriate for the perceived ambience of this cinema. 'It's A Wonderful Life' popped up for booking back in November and we duly booked into the sofa 'Laurel', as he's our favourite of the legendary comedy... More
