Delightful find

Eclectic mix of 20th century British art with interesting exhibitions, nice restaurant, much of it set out a lovely old Georgian house.

Helpful receptionists. Lockers to store coats etc. for £1 refunded afterwards. Lots of small exhibitions under one roof. Interesting sculptures in the courtyard. Understaffed in cafe area. Photography restricted. Would we go again? Yes.

This was a birthday treat for my wife. Upon entering the complex in which the restaurant was located I thought I had badly miscalculated in that the whole place looked like a garden centre cafeteria! However upon entering the establishment it was not as bad as I had initially thought. It's amazing what a linen tablecloth can do. The meal... More

The gallery has a strong permanent collection of modern art, as well as an excellent exhibition programme. Two recent openings are Victor Passmore and Sidney Nolan - both very interesting and worth seeing. The buildings are also interesting - Queen Anne house with modern extension by Colin St John Wilson (also architect of the British Library in London). The bookshop/giftshop... More

There was some interesting modern art on display when we visited, both in the modern extension, and in complete contrast, in the old house. The latter has been restored as much as is possible to how it could have looked when it was first inhabited, and there are many curious features to be seen. It is advisable to arrange a... More

The Pallant has excelled itself with a small but perfectly formed exhibition of the great Sir Sidney Nolan's work. Absolutely stunning !

We managed to see an exhibition just before it finishes. However, they have wonderful exhibitions and the whole place is warm and welcoming. If you are in the area you are missing a treat by not going. The staff and volunteers are all kind, helpful and smiley.

My pre-teens & I visited this gallery today. It is rather small, but the art work was varied & interesting. My reason for a 3 star review is because on 2 occasions one of the guides followed us around the rooms. This made us fell very uncomfortable. Surely they should be pleased that the young have such a keen interest... More
