Anyone who has any interest in the cinema and films should visit the Hyde Park. It is situated in Hyde Park, Leeds 6, close to Woodhouse Moor. It is very evocative of a bygone era and also shows interesting films.

I went here on a first-date on Halloween, to see the 1984 Nightmare on Elm Street. We did not book beforehand and there was quite a queue when we arrived! My date and I chose to sit upstairs which did not cost much more than the stalls and was really comfortable. We were pleased that we were able to buy... More

Such a pleasure to go to watch movies here. They offer independent, foreign, new and classic movies all year round. Prices are so reasonable but they have a loyal fan base and they know how to serve the community.

Great atmosphere. Look out for showings of classic films which you may have only previously sen on tv or dvd, but which can only be fully appreciated on a big screen. The only drawback are the women's toilets - only two and very basic - but a refurbishment grant should hopefully solve this problem in the near future.

Loved my first visit here, the staff are very friendly and you do get the a great feeling when you walk in. I love how you have to queue outside and pay for your ticket before entering which adds the vintage feel. Hyde park picture house is my favourite cinema by far.

The only cinema in England with gas-powered lights, so I was informed. Visited here as part of the Silent Film festival and also more recently for part of the Leeds International Film Festival. It is a lovely location. Quite easy to find a parking spot in one of the local side streets. There's a little "ticket booth" at the entrance... More

The outside and inside of the building are historical. The atmopshere is generally free from the sort of people you sometimes get at mainstream cinemas. The other people in the auditorium are generally nice and the volunteers are very nice. The whole experience is so different from the awful local cinemas. Thanks so much to the wonderful staff.

This cinema has hung on in spite of modernisation. It is truly unique and creatively and culturally unique.

Being born and bred in Headingley, I've been visiting on and off for the last 20 years. It makes a pleasant change from the multiplexes. A classic old school theatre, balcony, plush seats, mixed with a modern screen and sound system, oh and G&T :))
