It has taken many years to get the timings right to visit as it is not often open to the public. Well worth a visit particularly in the summer to marvel at the beautiful gardens - particularly the huge herbaceous borders in full colour The guided tour of the house is very interesting as it is still a family home... I recently attended a party at Dorney Court and it will be top of my list of venues going forward. A wonderfully refurbished coach house in the most amazing setting, a stones through from the original Tudor house and church. It felt like we were going back in time. Great facilities and the staff were very nice too - we... More

A fabulous house steeped in history and easily reached from London. I attended a party here recently - a wonderful setting and the Palmer family will happily provide plenty of information on the house whilst being extremely welcoming. Well worth a visit.

Fantastic house which has heaps of history. We were taken on a guided tour which was full of information and well presented in a slightly jovil way, also the gardens and chapel are worth a vist. There is plenty of parking with a garden centre and coffe shop.

What a fantastic afternoon out. I took my son , aged nine, and it was a thoroughly enjoyable visit. Our guide had plenty of historical facts up his sleeve, coupled with a lovely easy going manner. Having finished our tour of the spectacular manor house, my son was encouraged to play a couple of pieces on the piano. What a... More

Hopefully your son will come back and play a full recital for us in a few years. In any event, we are glad you found Dorney was an experience that was fun for all ages and our Guide was able to keep everyone interested and entertained. More

Finally went to the House having been to the cafe many times! Well worth a visit if you can! A splendid example of a Tudor Manor house, no wonder it is used so many times for filming period dramas! Lovely gardens and church to also wander around!

Very personal feel to the tour, like being welcomed into someone's home as an old friend. Phenomenal house with a rich history you can almost taste the centuries in the walls. Throughly recommended.

The house is by guided tour which takes around an hour and the house opens at 1.30pm (open season is limited so check before travel). Parking is plentiful on the grassed area in front of the house and you're welcome to enjoy a picnic (however, there is a good cafe within the nearby (walkable) garden centre). Our guide (Louise/Laura?) was... More

There is no doubt that this historic manor looks extremely picturesque and the rooms inside are quite in keeping with the exterior. My favourite room was the last one - the dining room but the first is also very atmospheric. The house is not quite as old as it claims in so far as an 18th century façade was removed... More

The state of the gardens has been noted and the head gardener will be summoned to explain herself. On the other hand the experience of visiting Dorney is really all about the manor house and we do not market the gardens for the very reason you have identified, they are not as special as many others which are open to... Amazing 600 year old house, occupied by same family for about 500 years. Mainly dark wood, tapestries and faded wall paper, unusual Great Hall with family crests, interesting additions made over the years to accommodate the family. Due to a wedding at venue we were unable to see inside the chapel, this had not been mentioned on the website, so... More

We are very pleased that you enjoyed your visit and found the tour as interesting as we would hope. However, we are disappointed that you were unable to see the church. It is a beautiful building and full of character. We are very lucky that St James remains a working Parish church and of course occasionally it plays host to... More
