Sadly this visit was very disappointing and nowhere near as good as many other homes and gardens in the area. Luckily for us it was on a very sunny and warm day. Really, there was nothing very special to comment on.

You'll need to plan ahead to get the rare days it is open but do make the effort. It's a fascinating place. When I went the V&A mausoleum was not open which was a shame, but the gardens are nice to walk around in the sun. It's not as well run as the open all year venues but it has... More

The house is really interesting to walk round with lots of history. The rooms are small so the guides take you round in small groups so that you can see everything without being crowded. My only disappointment was that you could go upstairs onto the landing but that was it, you had to come back down then, none of the... More

The tour was cancelled due to being told that entry was only allowed by coach. As a group of walkers, volunteers at local historic houses this appeared a little extreme. After reading another review (Lynne27a) it seems however that we may have been a blessing in disguise. We were under the impression that we had a timed ticket but that... More

I was in a bus load of people so our visits where timed entry, not sure if this applies to individual visits. We arrived about an hour early thinking we could look around garden first, but no we were turned away and told to look for somewhere to stay until our timed entry. This is not easy to find somewhere... More

This beautiful house contains many wonderful treasures. The decoration in rooms have been taken back to various periods in history (using photos taken at the time) so you see it as it would have been, including the placing of furniture and hear which royal inspired the decoration and placed their stamp on the property. Where original furnishings are no longer... More

This little hidden away gem is only open on a couple of weekends a year but is well worth a visit. So much history with beautiful gardens.
