We left Llsnelli an hour late because we had had to wait for a conductor. Then this conductor could not travel further than Llanwrtyd Wells so we were transferred to coaches for the two hour drive by road. We arrived very stiff and tired and although the return journey was on time we understand this sort of problem has happened... More

Firstly a few tips: start from either Swansea or Shrewsbury: get to the station early to be at the platform waiting to board: take a picnic: join in the fun! Why Arrive trains only put on one carriage for a journey that is invariably crowded only train managers can say? BUT - you pass through glorious countryside: you meet fantastic... More

Stood for 3 hours today travelling from Llandeilo to Shrewsbury- jam packed full of people travelling for free while the paying passengers had to stand! Hot & dehydrated by the end as it was impossible for the refreshment cart to move. Won't be travelling on this train again!

When I'm back in the UK I try and make the time to take this train from Llandrindod to either Swansea or Shrewsbury. Why? It's simply a delightful way to see some fantastic scenery (not to mention that the roads are an abomination...you'll end up behind a caravan / horse box / Sunday driver for sure). Cue the road rage.... More

To quote Benedict Le Vay, this is like catching the local train in India rather than the air conditioned express. After speeding across the Tawe Estuary, the train then winds its way through the mountains via the river Towy, the Sugar Loaf, and Knucklas Viaduct before joining the Welsh Marches Line, which maintains manual signalling.

Utter disaster might be the best phrase to sum this trip up, trying to plan ahead me and my girlfriend booked on line and selected to pick tickets up which meant a trip to Abersystwyth from Lampeter as this station has a ticket machine. Alas on the day we went to get them we could not as the ticket machine... More

Four senior citizens looking forward to an enjoyable train journey to Shrewsbury. I drove from Lampeter at 8.30am to pick up friends and then on to Llandeilo station to catch the 10.15 train to Shrewsbury. When we arrived other people were already there waiting for the train. The train entered the station on time but we were amazed to see... More
