Built in the late 13th century and reputed to be haunted by a past resident, this picturesque castle was built for King Edward I and is a perfect example of the "concentric castle" design.

I have been to this beautiful castle many times. This time it was special because my Granddaughter had a quest to complete. Around the castle are boards telling the story of the Welsh invasion on the castle. Each board had a letter and number clue. These clues related to a picture you coloured in. So if the clue was C1... \you can't miss the castle as you approach but you have to use the ugly newbridge not the original. Surrounded by shops and places of interest.

Conwy Castle impresses right from the start with it's imposing presence. The walls are intact but inside the castle’s pretty much a ruin, however there are great views from various parts of the walls and turrets. This means a lot of stone stairways to get up and down and around which won't suit the elderly, disabled or those who don't... More

I went there with my History class from University; we had a great time. The visitor's centre is comfortable and has good facilities. The walkway is a little slippery and the castle is not the best for disabled visitors. The ground and flagstones within the castle could be dangerous in wet weather. This said, the castle is stunning. The views... More

The castle is excellent. There is a lot to see and explore. Brilliant views of the water on one side and Conwy on the other. £8 to get in. Well worth it.

Great castle to spend two or so hours in with nice views and a cute town surrounding it. Recommend a visit with the CADW Explorer Pass, and/or going during the Gwledd Conwy Feast. This is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Site castles and a great complement to the others.

We must have visited this castle on the coldest day the planet has ever known but it was still a great visit. There's plenty of it left to climb over and the views from the top of the towers are fantastic. Give yourself a good hour to an hour and a half and have a good look round. It's a... More

Towering over the small town of Conwy, the castle stands strong and resolute, a powerful reminder of Edward I. Although in ruin, the turrets are accessible, and there's enough left for the imagination to visualise what it would have been like as a working castle. The turrets are tricky to climb, but the views of the surround area make it... More

We really enjoyed our visit to Conwy Castle, it certainly is a place that we would like to visit again. We found the whole experience very rewarding & at the same time surprising. The views were absolutely stunning & we like the way the town infrastructure was blended in with the castle i.e. the railway. They certainly blended the new... More
