The Conwy Mussel Museum is the place to go for seafood (£2.50 per pot of cooked mussels / cockles / prawns / etc) and we brought 4 pots to eat on the walls of the Quay. We also... read more

Conwy is known for their mussels & crayfish. We were able to enjoy so me fresh tasters along the docks. A great find and a place to see if you have time. One could only imagine the hustle and bustle in its time.

The Conwy Mussel Museum is the place to go for seafood (£2.50 per pot of cooked mussels / cockles / prawns / etc) and we brought 4 pots to eat on the walls of the Quay. We also wanted to buy some fish / mussels for cooking later, but they only sell in-season: September - April - basically a month... More

The process of cleaning the mussels is shown in detail here and you are then able to buy at very reasonable prices a product that is so fresh you will come back for more next time you visit. It is open from 10AM in the morning and the staff are pleasant and helpful. Well recommended.

Watch the mussels go through the process on aged machines, staff are friendly and a great result at the end.

A fascinating and unique way of fishing for mussels. When in season, Sept till April, you have the opportunity to purchase the most possible fresh mussels. The museum is worth visiting throughout the year.

I visited the Mussel Museum. On the day, the premises was empty. There was shelves of fish bait on sale. I did not see anyone in the place, and there was no one I could ask. From my observation, the place did not have any exhibit about mussels, nor did it look like an museum of any description. Unless I... More
