The museum is a fascinating experience for the whole family. Step back in time at the oldest lifeboat station in Wales (circa. 1858), Which houses a wonderful collection of exhibits telling the enthralling maritime history of Holyhead.

Situated alongside the Maritime Museum, in a Second World War Air Raid Shelter, is the very informative permanent exhibition "Holyhead at War".

Holyhead Maritime museum is a treasure in the Irish Sea. Very knowledgable and friendly staff, individual people with specialities are fabulous sources of information for the layman. I was even offered a cup of tea by Caroline, one of the vounteers. It was delicious. Great section on the history of the Dutch Marines in Hilyhead, which locks nicely with the... More

What a lovely little gem, hidden away looking out to sea. The museum is housed in an old lifeboat station, so is quite small, but the amount & quality of the exhibits is stunning! The museum is run by volunteers and our guide was extremely knowledgeable. After learning of local sea faring facts, we were then able to go into... More

So many stories and so many interesting artefacts packed into this little museum. A real tour of the town, the sea and the local people. We visited as three generations and each one found it fascinating. Thoroughly recommended. The food in the cafe is excellent too: we ate outside with a wonderful view of the harbour. Will definitely go again.

We visited the museum on holiday to Anglesey, it's a lovely small museum but has plenty of displays that are of very high quality, the models they have are excellent, and the building it's self is a lovely place to be, the staff are very helpful, there is also an air raid shelter building with information and displays on wartime... A small but fascinating museum. To get the best out of it accept the free tour. The volunteer tour guides are very knowledgeable and bring the displays to life.

We Pulled up into a car park to enjoy our recently purchased takeaway watching the Stealth Bomber engined Ferry making its way out of the harbour on its way to Ireland and Noticed the Maritime Museum to the right. Admission fee was Cheap enough and well worth the money. There is a little shop selling ship and boat models and... More
