People seem to have confused Y Garn here - there is a second Y Garn (creatively named - Y Garn II) starting near Rhyd Ddu, and is wonderful in itself, especially the Nantlle Ridge. But I believe this Snowdonia NP attraction is intended to be the Y Garn of the Ogwen Valley - as indicated by the positioning on the... More

This is a review for the Y Garn peak which is at the start of the Nantlle Ridge. Park at the Rhyd Ddu car park, cross the road and follow the path up Y Garn then begin the Nantlle Ridge scramble. The ridge itself is fun to do but 360 degree views are amazing, it is quite a quiet walk,... More

We went here for a walk, we only go up to the lake as the weather wasn't good to go any higher up. The walk is good, the path can be a bit hard with being uneven etc so make sure you are wearing good walking boots. The scenery both from the stream with falls coming from the lake and... More

A nice day walk from Rhy Du which is doable in a couple of hours. It can be made the start of the Nantile ridge walk which is long and arduous. Not to be confused with Y Garn in the Ogwen valley which is part of the Glyders. Most averagly fit people can do this without to much puffing and... More

Lovely walk in the mountains 10th highest in Wales - Y Garn start point Ogwen Cottage. Great walk with my son before he went back to sea (Merchant Navy) and My 12 year old daughter who skipped up and down it like a mountain goat. It rained, it hailed and water was pouring strongly down the paths, the top swirling... More

So much better than Snowdon. It is a challenging path up the boulder field, but the views from Devil's Kitchen and further up the mountain are stunning.

This is a very different way to Y Garn and beware there is a very stiff slog up Elidir Fawr at the start!

As the other reviewers say, y Garn is a lovely mountain to walk up on a fine day. It's one of the 3000 foot peaks of Eryri (Snowdonia) and a good introduction to walking in the area. Start early to have the place to yourself. It never gets really crowded like Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) though. From Ogwen, at the west... More
