Good for a wee trot, this hill make a great day out for a route that is not that strenuous. Can be used as a poor weather alternative if Snowdon is in poor condition. Many variations for such a small hill.

People seem to have confused Y Garn here - there is a second Y Garn (creatively named - Y Garn II) starting near Rhyd Ddu, and is wonderful in itself, especially the Nantlle Ridge. But I believe this Snowdonia NP attraction is intended to be...More

A nice day walk from Rhy Du which is doable in a couple of hours. It can be made the start of the Nantile ridge walk which is long and arduous. Not to be confused with Y Garn in the Ogwen valley which is part...More

So much better than Snowdon. It is a challenging path up the boulder field, but the views from Devil's Kitchen and further up the mountain are stunning.
