    Cosy cathedral
A friendly welcoming awaits in this cosy cathedral. Yes it is quite small - maybe the smallest cathedral I have been in. But Brecon is a lovely place to visit and the cathedral is quite pretty inside- not a word I would normally use. It is obviously a well-loved and cared for place.

    Compact for a Cathedral
Quite unexpected contents contained within the building. I'm sure that we missed a few as well. Plenty of floor memorials and dating back many a year, I think 1680 was the earliest we could read. A couple of what the kids used to call "a blokie on a sideboard". Not the easiest to photo from the outside due to the proximity of trees but plenty of opportunities inside. There are toilets (signposted on leaving cathedral). There is also a cafe onsite which was well populated. We parked in the town and walked up to the cathedral, past the old gaol and school buildings.

    Well Worth a Visit.
This building appears to be very small for a cathedral but there is lots to see inside. In a divergence from the norm, a description of the cathedral was given in braille but not plain text! This gave my partner, who happens to be blind, the interesting task of reading the description to others in our group. There is plenty of descriptive information to read that adds to the enjoyment of visiting the cathedral. It is definitely well worth a visit

We visited the cathedral at Brecon on a Monday morning in August whilst passing through the Brecon Beacons on route to Swansea. We had driven to Brecon and there are (pay & display) car parks near to the building. Access to the cathedral is free however there is a credit card ‘tap in’ facility should you wish to leave a donation.
The building was not too busy on the day of our visit and is very light and airy inside with its tall ceilings and stone vaulted roof over the altar. What looks to be an ancient crucifix hangs from the roof, a very striking image of Christendom. Here and there are small treasures from the past, an uncovered section of painted wall plaster, a sharpening stone used by medieval archers, and the Cresset Stone used in antiquity to hold a number of candles to act as a lighting unit. The bright sunlight shone through the beautiful stained-glass windows.
It is our custom in religious houses to light a candle in return for a small donation and this facility was available here.

Lovely Cathedral with beautiful architecture. We walked up from the town, and enjoyed looking around. Staff were friendly .
Negatives I would have donated a few pounds on leaving , but the only option I had was to tap my card and donate £5 . I don’t agree with this.
We had refreshments in coffee shop, which was nice. However £8.75 for Welsh rarebit was excessive when it consisted of 1 slice of bread which had only been toasted on one side and was accompanied by a small salad covered in dressing.
I am happy to pay if something is worth it, but this was disappointing. The staff on the other hand were lovely.

My Wife used to live in Brecon and in al the time she was there had never visited the Cathedral. We went earlier in the year and were blessed with good weather, which meant that we could explore the grounds as well as the Cathedral. It was a wonderful time, but we stumbled on a hidden gem, the tea rooms, where you can sit and have a pot of tea and cake at a very reasonable price. While sitting in the gardens at the side of the church you get to see all wonder of beautiful things.

Well worth a visit.

Unfortunately a very disappointing and unpleasant experience. Went with a friend for the Candlelit Zimmer vs Williams concert, and at no point in the ticket purchase was it made clear that our seats in the transept area would have no view of the orchestra. We were tucked behind a partition and could only listen. Seeing the back of a few musician's heads does not count as a view.
On top of that, as others have mentioned, the parking situation is absolutely appalling - my husband drove in to pick us up, only waited about 5 minutes and never noticed a sign or ticket machine in the dark. He promptly got a £60 fine that he was unable to contest. If the cathedral has anything to do with this scammy private parking company, it is despicable, money-grabbing management. I will not be going again and certainly not recommending the visit to anyone else.

Beware of parking charge at the car park. the payment machine is not lit, although the sign next to it was. it is impossible to see to read the numbers or letters. . I received a parking fine .for 60 pounds, I paid a lady 5pounds , at the door stating the machine was not readable in the dark. I appealed but this was ejected. even after taken a photo of the unlit payment machine. So beware of this christian ripoff my advice is not to visit. save you money and spend it else were.

We didn’t get into the cathedral unfortunately as it was closed due to no volunteers being available. Fair enough, but although there were signs around the cathedral saying it was closed there wasn’t one in the adjacent cathedral car park so we wasted £1.50 in the parking machine buying a ticket. It would have been helpful to put a sign by the machine.

Beautiful cathedral & grounds. We were disappointed to walk up the hill to the cathedral to find that the cafe in the courtyard was not open on Sundays. It appeared we weren’t the only visitors disappointed by this. It was a fine day to visit & it would have been lovely to enjoy a refreshment in the lovely surroundings

Lovely Cathedral, quite a steep walk to get here but worth the effort.

Quite a lot of information on the South Wales Border regiment (the Zulu/Rorkes Drift encounter) which was a surprise.

They have a cafe and an outside eating area, but the cafe was closed during our visit (if you need a lavatory there are some inside the Cathedral building).

No entrance fee.

We were passing through Brecon on our way to our holiday accommodation. Stopped at the tourist information and the cathedral was recommended. A beautiful building with so many gorgeous features. We had a late lunch in the pilgrims cafe which was really nice and as the sun was shining we were able to eat outside and admire the cathedral.

I took in a view of thia cathedral on a recent trip to Brecon. It is well worth the time to wander round. The grounds are impeccable and the internals are breathtaking with many things to learn about and search for such as the stonemason symbols throughout and the history, the tombs and stained glass windows
