I have no words to describe the feelings this spot generated in me. the pictures do not do it any justice. We simply have to come back again. It was a wonderful spiritual place.

A great place to show visitors. Open and exposed and then this impressive stone . I had some friends from Australia over and took them up to see it. Stunning views on the way and they were really impressed on how old it is and were very pleased with the grafiti from people in the past. Thankfully it had been cleaned up from recent vandalism. I live very near and so am a regular visitor. Never get bored with it and every visit is different due to the varied weather. It is a "must see" for all visitors to this area of Wales

Went there to get some pictures of the night sky and Milky Way.
Absolutely amazing place.
The only sound was that of the stream.
Tranquil location

The drive to it, take the narrow road from Ystradfellte called Sarn Helen, which is believed to be an old Roman road. I only saw one other car on my journey. The stone appears on your right, if you are driving north. It is easily accessible by climbing the stile and walking the 75 metres along the muddy path, in winter, to the stone. I have to say that I was not that impressed. There are far more interesting Neolithic sites in South Wales.

Not signed so this will be an accidental find or a planned visit. Can be added to a circular tour while in the Brecons. If you are into stones add it into visit list worth a stop and walk across to it as larger than it looks

The trip to view The standing stone is worth it in its self. Travelling from Heol Senni direction the views are amazing! The road up to the stone is narrow and has tight bends like you see in a new car advert and feels
Like you are going to the middle of nowhere, but once you are at the top the stone can be found on left hand side.
Small info board gives you a brief history, however if you look closely at the stone you see where someone has remembered their visit by inscribing 1869 into the rock face.
Great as a quick stop and somewhere to admire the views in all directions. If you want peace and tranquility gave a stop here

This solitary stone is just standing there. Nothing near it looks similar to it, so it must have been taken there somehow. Apparently it is still remains a mystery how the stone got there. The roads on route to Maen Llia are small and the views on the way are beautiful. When we arrived, nobody else was near. There is easy access, you can park near it and walk straight to it. The trip was definitely worth it.

A spectacular standing stone, just a short walk from the road side (a quiet lane) so well worth a short stop to soak up the atmosphere. Not a bad spot for a picture either with stunning rolling hills of the Brecon Beacons all around.

A beautiful standing stone, well worth a 10 minute stop. Only 50 metres from the road so easily accessible.

for us Maen Llia appeared unexpectedly out of the mist and it was magic. it makes you think why people erected it 4,000 years ago and more generally, why people do what they do.

Hello. We will be driving from Abergavenny to Llandovery and would like to stop to see Maen Llia on the way. I am concerned about the road. I am very fearful of blind curves and hairpin turns. Do I have need to be concerned? Can you suggest a route? Thank you.

The roads aren’t too bad on the way to Maen Llia, especially when driving over Brecon Beacons. Just go slowly where necessary and keep well to your side of the road, (left n UK),. Yes there are blind bends and some drivers can be a bit dangerous, drive too fast or on your side of road, but if you go slow and keep to your side, you should be fine. I was. also concerned about roads, but just drive carefully and you should be fine. There are much less cars on roads in Wales than in England!
