We returned this morning from a wonderful 4 days on the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal. We sailed about 22 miles from Gilwern to Brecon and back and every yard was enchanting, from the reflections in the mirror-like surface of the canal in the early mornings,...More

Booked a one day taster day with Country Craft Narrowboats as an early birthday present for my husband. It was a fabulous day. Olwen and Ashley the mechanic were so welcoming and the tuition was thorough and comprehensive. They guided us through the locks which...More

Love walking the towpath with our dog. Lovely scenery, tranquil and some nice pubs dotted about the route in a few places.

We hired one of the electric narrowboats provided by Castle Narrowboats at Gilwern for a week in mid-May and had a great time. I would thoroughly recommend it. The boat was spotlessly clean, quiet and does not produce any diesel fumes! The friendly service by...More

Rang for some help and was told they were too busy. Thanks just leave us stranded on the canal. Had to sort it out with the help of other boaters and canal dwellers.

Cambrian Cruisers is an exceptionally good outfit that shows the benefit of the direct attention of the owners. We hired Catrin for four nights for a party of two elderly couples. The accomodation provided good space and excellent privacy. The boat was beautiful and manageable...More

Booked a long weekend with Country craft Narrowboats in Cwm Crawnon. Robert & his staff couldn't have done more to make us welcome. The service was efficient, instruction / guidance thorough, & the craft immaculately presented.

We spent a week on their 2 berth 'Kingfisher' boat & would have to say Beacon Park Boats has taken boating to another level. The attention to detail started from the moment you arrived to Tea or coffee, cold drinks & homemade cakes which I...More

Hello everyone. We are a family of 4 (children aged 9 & 14) and plan to visit some relatives in Newport August 24-29th this summer and are considering a canal boat rather than a hotel but we would like to moor as close to Newport as we can. We are wondering if there is any free mooring right in or near Cwmbran and if so, what is it like? (noisy, busy or quiet and safe). If Cwmbran is not suitable for 3-4 nights of free mooring then where might we find the next best closest location? We would primarily use the boat for lodging but would of course spend at least 1 or 2 days cruising North up the river and back. Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Please tell me how to get to this place. I have looked on google maps and there are three places that show the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal including at Brecon. I would like a pretty place to take a walk, stop at a pub and possible hire a boat for an hour or so. We are coming from Abergavenny. Thanks
