This great little bar is hidden behind Castle Court Shopping Mall. You have to press a buzzer to gain entry, a reminder of Belfast's troubled history. Inside are more reminders of the politics of the city, with Republican posters, Irish language signage and Irish memorabilia. But the most important thing is the Guinness, the best pint in Belfast served up... More

Had a great time in this traditional Irish pub, the Guinness was absolutely the best tasting in Belfast and I was served by a very friendly & welcoming bartender called Ciara so thank-you Ciara for the excellent service we received and no doubt will certainly be back to Maddens on our next visit to Belfast

If we hadn't previously read some 'Visit Belfast' reviews about the best pubs in Belfast we would have missed this gem, or, walked straight past it! From the outside you could pre judge and perhaps not enter but that would be a big mistake. Inside this reasonably small pub it is brilliant, nicely laid out and incredibly decorated with all... Traditional Irish Bar. Lots to see, lots to drink and lots of people to talk to. Live traditional music some nights. A good place for a great pint of Guinness.

Maddens was always a tight working class Belfast Bar and its standing as a place to visit for many visitors to Belfast has not changed that. No-mater who has owned it, Maddens remained unchanged over decades. Kept safe by one of the the City's finest doormen every visit is just like going back in time. The Guinness is marginally better... This is one the most traditional music pubs in Belfast. Bar on the ground floor with music and at least at on week-ends there is a bar on first floor also with traditional music. This is a must in Belfast. Check out their home page or Facebook.
