I have been to Castleward many times and have spent numerous holidays on the estate. Have not visited for a few years but the estate does not loose any of its charm and magic. Walked around Temple water and to Audley's castle and the view...More

Made a booking for the caravan park but due to illness we needed to rearrange. I'm sorry to say that staff had absolutely no compassion or flexibility for exceptional circumstances and will just take your money. Will rethink before booking again.

The mansion itself was shut the day we visited so cycled the grounds, had a coffee in the courtyard and took photos of the Game of Thrones sets. Other than that not a lot to love really.

House well worth a tour round. Also if you do Game of Thrones then this is a must do for film locations. The caravan park also run by the Trust is well run in a good location.

Is Castle Ward busy in December? Are you allowed to take photos within the house? Do you have a policy on family photos?

I visited in August, so can't comment about December crowds, but I can say that we took plenty of pictures within the house. I'm sure you could get someone to take a quick family picture, but I don't know if you'd be able... More
