We started at the visitor's center in Derry and asked about a private tour. Adrian Callan then took us on an amazing tour of the town he loves so well. it was educational, informative, emotional, and enlightening. His knowledge of the history and his personal experiences kept us riveted and made us feel that we were experiencing the events that... More

On this tour you learn a lot of information about about the conflicts between Catholics and Protestants in the past as well as Bloody Sunday and other violent events in the 1970s. Our guide had very profound knowledge of the place, people and incidents as he was born in the Bogside area and his father was one of those killed... More

I took this tour with a friend in August 2015--we book privately, and had Adrian as a guide. AMAZING. Adrian is incredible--speaks Irish, lives and breathes the history--not only has knowledge and life experience living in the Bogside, but also a degree in the history. I cant imagine anyone better. In addition to the education we got, he is also... More

My wife and I decided to take a trip up to Derry. We had been advised by friends to take the tour of the bogside etc with Free Derry Tours. We met at the museum with our dedicated tour guide a chap called George. His Knowledge of his city was fabulous. He really made the tour worthwhile. He showed great... More

I only had myself and a few other people on this tour, so the guy who took it made it very close and personal. We still got all the detail a larger tour group would have got, but it felt like he was taking around a bunch of friends rather than a group of strangers. Such a lot of history... More

When you get to Derry you'll see flyers for a LOT of walking tours. After asking around, I found many people recommending Free Derry Tours. I'm glad I listened. My guide, Adrian Callen, was friendly and knowledgeable. Not only did I learn a lot, but basically felt like I'd taken an afternoon walk with a good friend. While he definitely... More

Our tour was with George who grew up yards from Free Derry corner, his insight into events and his knowledge regarding the history of the bogside was first class. We would definitely recommend this tour to anyone wanting to learn more about Derry

My fiancé and I had Paul as our guide, who's own father was unfortunately immortalized as a murder victim at the hands of the British Army on Bloody Sunday. It was just the two of us and Paul, which made the tour very personal. I have always had an interest in the history of Ireland and the struggles for the... More

Went with Paul who has an in depth knowledge of Derrys history and particularly the events around Bloody Sunday when his father was shot dead. He has also been involved in dozens of enquiries since. It is pleasing that the truth is now known - however justice is still to be done.

Shocking, yet somehow a 'Must Do'. Paul, whose own father was shot on 'Bloody Sunday', gave a passionate, deeply-felt talk that moved the group while sticking to facts, information, while acknowledging that others' have their 'stories' too. Without it I'd have understood much less about what I subsequently saw and heard, whether at the Bogside Artists (who painted the famous... More
