Any visit to Aberdeen would not be complete without a trip to Footdee; situated at the foot of the River Dee. This quaint former fishing village is so full of history. From the bastion of the sea wall with houses built into it to form...More

Having been a regular visitor to Aberdeen for over 30 years I thought I knew the city quite well. This wee corner of came as a bit of a surprise. Lovely old cottages and a homely atmosphere. A hidden gem worth visiting.

It is well worth a wander around this unexpected little gem of a village. The houses have mostly been restored and offer a lovely glimpse into a world gone by.

Yes you can walk it in twenty minutes or so, but goes past the docks so is not very pleasant for a stroll! Best bet is to drive and park at the sea front for free.
