This is a lovely way to see Deeside while exercising. Walk, cycle or ride your horse but beware of other users. Plenty of places along the way for great views, rests or refreshments (Newton Dee for example). Most of it now paved and less level crossings. Safe place to teach kids to ride their bikes with long uninterrupted stretches.

We really enjoyed this walk! Caught in between some showers of rain but it was still very pleasant and the scenery was beautiful. Look forward to going back on a summers day

This route starts at the Duthie Park and then passes through Holburn and Ruthrieston, where you can still see the old platforms, then out of town. So far I have only explored as far as Pitfodels, but I plan to cover other stretches of it out towards Banchory and beyond. In town it is a tarmac surface so very easy... More

This former railway line from Aberdeen to Ballater is now a very popular walkway suitable for walkers cyclists or runners . It is easy to access from so many places along the way. It starts from the world famous Duthie Park and is an easy walk to Peterculter. Its condition has been much improved in recent years with tarmac replacing... More

We regularly walk along sections of this former railway track which stretches from Aberdeen to Ballater. It is awesome and some of the views are breathtaking. It is also an enjoyable way to maintain fitness levels. Being an old railway, the gradients are easy annd accessible to everyone.

This is a favourite place for walking or cycling with very little stop/starts as the path crosses roads with bridges or underpasses, There is a bit of disruption at peterculter due to the awpr road works ! A must do for all locals or visitors

This is a short but nice train ride (20 minutes tops). It is usually pulled by a diesel but on special days is pulled by a steam engine. Since this ride has the original cars you get a feel for what it was like to travel on the train. The people working there are exceptionally nice.

Walked from Cults to Newton Dee along the old railway path. Even on a damp day it was a pleasant walk with nice views, lots of trees, and a bit of history. Worth a wander
