I have had a soft spot for Inveraray since the nineteen seventies. It’s a bit like visiting an old friend - sadly on this occasion one that is not very well. A stream of coaches now disgorge their visitors to the castle and grounds, the jail and to buy high end woollens. Incidentally, the jail offers a free audio guide... More

Can say nothing about the museum itself, which is closed. There is no access to the puffer or the sailing vessel. The pier is closed and more or less derelict. You can see the vessels from the road, but no closer. Sad really.

The Maritime Centre was shut when we went, one passer by told us it was closed for the season (quite possible - it was December) another told us it has closed down (it does look rather run down) but there was no visible sign to confirm the true story. There was a tall ship, and a Clyde Puffer (the Vital... More

Shut now for years .Pier is in need of much cash to get it open again ,real shame as many people loved fishing and just walking out the pier and looking across the loch.Somebody somewhere must have the capability to spend some of that lottery money that I keep donating to used here.?

Changes with the season and the state of the old boats at its heart. Pretty good this summer, and lovely to see The Vital Spark puffer boat. The pier itself is in need of some TLC so not as user friendly for fishing and wildlife watching as in the past.

This is a good pit stop when travelling south from the highlands and includes a small town oasis from the hills.

underfunded and crying out for capital investment a closed and sad facility. an example of decay and sadness... sadly not uncommon now at similar facilities.

The maritime centre needs refurbishing and make it more accessible to the public. Disappointed that we cannot get and access up close to see the Vital Spark and really came to know the boat itself as it has no public access to it.

Disappointed not to be able to get on the pier to see the VITAL SPARK. A golden opportunity for Inverary sadly going to waste. A great wee toon and well worth a visit that apart.

We used to fish here and take a picnic. Not now it's in ruins. Such a shMe because Inveraray is such a lovely place the pier lets it down
