Well worth a visit, thought the many steps caused problems for me, but that's not their fault, its an old building and to make it accessible to all would be detrimental to the museum.

A nice walk around the old jail(s). There's actually 2 jails in 1 here. They have headsets which are free of charge which explains about the conditions and some of the inmates. Worth a trip.

Visited here as we had some time to kill before checking into our hotel. There's lots of fantastic little nooks and crannies which are full of information. Getting to have a play around with props was fun too. Would be great for all ages.

We thought we would have a look round Inverary Jail and Castle in a day and only managed one on each consequtive day.....so more to see than we anticipated. You can get a discount if you visit the two places too, which was good value.

We loved our visit to the Inveraray Jail. Lots of history to read about and the journey takes you through the courthouse, old jail, outside areas and then the newer jail. Interesting to read the stories about inmates, that really helped you get a picture...More
