Better than the usual WWT sites

Much better than usual WWT sites - nowhere near as "stage-managed", which for a wild bird lover is vastly preferrable. Good hides with excellent views over the Merse.

We visited on a quiet dry day. The Admission was reasonably priced. The ground was wet and muddy from the recent weather so wellies or other suitable footwear are advisable unless it's bone dry. A pleasant walk around the various areas, we took so long in places, visiting various hide we will have to return to complete it all. The... More

Visited in late December to see the barnacle geese and swans. Both were there in great numbers. We also enjoyed a lovely snack in the cafe before watching the swan feed at 2pm. If you like birds this is the place to come to. The new Peter Scott observatory is a great place to view the feeds at 11am and... More

Went on a dreary day but saw loads of birds and the bird feeding at 11am was great. loads of hides for serious twitchers and amatures alike mostly flat and level walking and the towers take a bit of climbing ! worth the entrance fee

A party of 10 friends went to visit the reserve. We timed our visit to coincide with the presence of the barnacle geese. Joe, the warden told us that this year there were around 40,000 visiting. The reserve is quite sprawling and you should allow around 6 hours to get around the reserve particularly if there are interesting species around... More

We stayed for one night in the farmhouse on site. This is single room let during the winter and whole house let during the summer. The accommodation is outstanding, warm, exceptionally clean and the views from the conservatory across the Folly Pond amazing, with the added bonus of seeing Badgers feeding in the evening! As birders we loved the reserve... More

This is a great winter venue to see swans and ducks at close range. Helpful staff. Free tour once you've paid the entrance fee and great little restaurant for lovely soups and pies and good bread. I'll bring my grandchildren there when they return from their time in Canada. Definitely woth a visit.

We visited in November which is a good time for the Barnacle Geese and Whooper Swans. Excellent Cafe, good hides - plenty of good birds of course and an informative commentary by the reserve manager at feeding time - leave yourselves plenty of time it's a big reserve with plenty of hides.
