I booked The Big Day Out as a surprise birthday present for my daughter as we were holidaying in the region. We had a fabulous time beginning with the Segway tour and ending with the water ball, with archery, clay pigeon shooting and the zip-wire in between. All the instructors were knowledgeable and very friendly, and we felt safe at... More

My partner and I visited for the zip wire. Great experience :) We then had lunch in the cafe, lovely views, sadly not dog friendly, good menu but was let down by food not being properly hot.

Stayed in the meadow snug from 11-13th April with my 2 kids (8 & 11) and we all had an amazing time. The snug was one of the nicest accommodations I've ever stayed in. Ordered a hamper and it was packed full of goodies which lasted us the both nights. Mattress was a wee bit lopsided but still managed a... More

Tried the zip wire and was very pleased with my experience with my partner. Felt extremely safe the whole time and we were in good hands. Spectacular views and just a very enjoyable experience. Finished off with tea and lunch in the cafe which was tasty but was a little sad that dogs are not allowed inside, otherwise would have... More

We had booked to try the archery and when we got there asked about the segway. We were informed there was a trip going after our archery finished so we signed up. The archery began with some general instruction from a very helpful young man called Callum. We had a go at the targets and then started a competition between... More

I called with my family for breakfast whilst on holiday. Kids loved it but I was disappointed as there was no full breakfast (unbelievably). Had to make do with what seemed like dry toast with a tomato over cooked fried egg and some bacon. Cost roughly £26 for three portions of pancakes and two breakfast type things. Maybe should have... Tried to book for Easter Friday but couldn't get in until the Sunday. Not a problem as we had all weekend but you definitely need to plan and book ahead. Had a quick bite of lunch in the on-site cafe which was lovely and reasonable and filled in the registration forms while eating. Did the zip-wire as a family of... More

This place is such asset for the area but feel it needs a little "tightening up". The web site is good but it would be better if you could book online, especially since booking is essential - I had problems getting hold of anyone by phone. We arrived a bit late, so perhaps a reminder to arrive 15 minutes before the... More

Hi Caroline, Thanks for your review. Granny did mention that you had struggled to book prior to arriving in Gatehouse. We've been overwhelmed by demand over the last 3 weeks, but our answer system does ask that callers leave a message and we do call everyone back on the same day in most cases. We looked into getting an on-line... More

This was an outing for my birthday and I have to say, Again! Again! I would quite happily have gone straight back and come down again, I loved it. We were with friends who have two children the youngest decided, once he was up there, that he didn't want to go and it was no problem as our instructor brought... More
